Jake DVD mentioned on television? 4 Months, 3 Weeks ago
This evening someone told me she had seen this week a news item about Jake on t.v., and that there had been mention of a DVD. She was vague about which programme, however: possibly a morning or evening local news programme in the north. Did anyone else see this and, if so, can they provide more info.?

I'm afraid I (for one) can't help you on this one, Paul, but (just as an aside)is anyone else disappointed by the fact that there has been such a paucity of comments on the "Unicorn" dvd itself (barely 20 to date). If we can't muster up more enthusiasm than this on THIS site, how are we to convince the B.B.C that it's worth releasing the treasures that they hold to the wider public?

I agree - I've done my bit, but there must be others who've bought and watched it.

Hi Hugh. The problem with the BBC wasn't enthusiasm - they were quite happy to let us have copies of the programmes (which we have the talent here to remaster); the problem was the amount of money which their commercial arm wanted in the process.

What a shame. It would be brilliant to see some of the older recordings again, re-mastered or not. I suppose we should be glad they still have some, as a lot of iconic recordings were just burned or recorded over in the past! Perhaps one day they will relent.
