| Baz Garrod | Signed on: Wed 25 Apr 2007 21:16:12 BST I saw a copy of the "Jake On The Box" doc earlier this week along with the half hour compilation of TV performances and Jake simply blew me away. I had never seen or heard him before though had heard a lot about him. That 1971 performance of "Mollie Metcalfe" is quite simply the most extraordinary piece of video I have seen in a very long time. He was a true original and I cherish such people. I look most forward to reading and learning more about this wonderful talent. |

Eileen Mitchell from Surrey | Signed on: Wed 31 Jan 2007 16:58:48 GMT Cant we get the BBC to make a DVD of their archives of Jake. The BBC4 programme was terific, all my nyoung thought Jake was cool as they say. If we ask enough maybe they will do something. Would love to see that quizzical funny face again, have got all the music, play it all day, my favourites stil are LahdeDah and the lodger. |
Eileen Mitchell from Surrey UK | Signed on: Wed 31 Jan 2007 16:58:31 GMT I am quite old but have been in love with Jake for years, he was soooooo handsome. Quite like Lah-de-Dah with an orchestra but best of all, like the Lodger, then the blacksmith and toffeemaker. Have now bought Jake in a box which is terrific value, nearly 100 tracks. How I wish he was still with us |
| The Blacksmith | Signed on: Wed 31 Jan 2007 16:58:20 GMT Joined the happy band of Thackray fans up and down the country only tonight and it's good to see I'm not alone in my admiration of a truely GREAT Britain (sorry Yorkshire folk, yes you ARE part of the UK)....Just!! Looking forward to my time on this site. |
Sharon Jackson from Dunca, BC, Canada | Signed on: Wed 31 Jan 2007 16:57:51 GMT I first heard Jake on the Max Ferguson show on the CBC in the early 70's. The album of his which I bought got lost many years ago but I have been humming bits of "The Statues" and "The Black Swan" all my adult life. And suddenly I find this site! You have made me a very happy woman. I am devastated that he has passed on...he was brilliant and funny and wonderful |
