The last time I saw Jake he introduced the Brigadier as being about an archetype of village life ("and he always drives a bloody Volvo") rather than an individual. That was in 1982 or so though so my memory may be playing tricks.

And what may I ask is wrong with driving a Volvo? I have disconnected the indicators on mine (dont feel the need to let other road users know where I am headed as I own the bloody road) I have installed the one way glass film (so that you can see in but I cant see out) and people get upset when I pull out in front of them.

As a motorcyclist I have taken the view that if I drive one then there is one less to cause problems to motorcyclists.
