Mike Harding's Radio Show - 2006/08/10 12:43 In case there are those out there who don't tune in to Mike Harding's Wednesday night Radio 2 programme,he's devoting one show in September to the comedic side of Folk music and, this week (9/08) before he played "Castleford Ladies..." (from the Lobster Pot C.D.),he announced that the biggest part of requests he's received thus far have been for Jake. My suggestion that he plays "The Bull" is already in (more in hope than anticipation admittedly!).See what you think.

Re:Mike Harding's Radio Show - 2006/08/25 13:00 Further to my earlier posting, I'd just like to confirm the date scheduled for Mike Harding's Radio2 Comedy Special is Wednesday 20th September @ 8.00p.m. If I were a betting man (which I'm not, though I may be lying !) I'd be fairly confident that our hero will, at least, get a mention. Incidentally, and on a slightly related subject, there's been several postings on the B.B.C.'s Folk Message board regarding Jake;nothing of which we're unaware, you understand, but it's nice to think his memory is living on out there in cyberspace. I wonder what he'd make of all this ? Finally, I'd like to wish everyone well for the Jakefest this weekend.

Re:Mike Harding's Radio Show - 2006/09/14 12:54 Final advanced warning: this week's Radio Times (16th - 22nd September)page128,Radio 2 listings for Wednesday,20th 8.00p.m."Mike Harding. A special edition devoted to folk comedy, featuring the personal favourites of both Mike and the show's listeners. This celebration of the golden age of folk humour features archive clips from Billy Connolly,Vin Garbutt,Tony Capstick and Jake Thackray". Another name that Mike mentioned in this week's show was Bernard Wrigley. I saw him perform a version of "On Again! On Again!" some years ago in Southport (I think he may have recorded it ,too, somewhere in his archives. I also heard our very own Justin Edwards do the opening line in his interview with Jonathan Ross the other week;nice one ,Justin. In the meantime, after a trilogy of posts on this subject,I'm not actually going to be here to hear the programme "live" as I'm off on my holidays so hopefully my trust old Technics system will record it for me. Be seeing you!
