 did jake take his own life - 2006/10/18 02:28 Being new and not so new to the words and music of Jake Thackray, and as my input into this forum grows, you the reader will know im trying not to be silly nor nasty in this thread.

I heard Jake's music many moons ago, but was just a kid..i knew i liked something about the sounds i heard but where and when i first heard them is a lost memory.
Most plausible guess i can make is that dad must have played a record of Jake's, and the singular voice Jake had, with the fantastic laugh dad had...well perhaps thats where i got my introduction to Jake from.
I never really knew for sure, but iv'e always rememberd his voice...i recall doing impressions of the nuiances of his voice to silly ditties by myself.

Then i saw the bbc4 docu..and it moved me much.
So much that i obtained his records, joined this site and write to you now.

As we understand it, Jake died of natural causes on Christmas Eve 2002. He had been known to be ill for long periods in the previous year and his lifestyle was maybe one that didn't help, but there was no suggestion that any of that was the cause of his death and there is certainly no factual basis for any more suspicious causes at all.

Welcome to the site and the community : you'll find many people here who are moved as you are by Jake's work and artistry, and who have fond younger memories of him which have been rekindled by the CD reissues and the documentary.
