I think that I'm the only one of the regulars who plays this and I don't play it like Jake does! I think that the lyric is elsewhere on the site. I play it something like:
(F)Little (G)Tommy (C)Haverley (Am > F > G)Born upon a (C)Tues-(E)day (Am > descending bass)Your mother has bought a cherry tree (G)to plant for (C)you.
That should be enough to let you work it out. If I recall correctly Jake played it in D but I may be wrong and he threw in some stray 9th chords. I smooth out the rhythm and play more open chords (for example in the "F" above I don't fret the G or E strings). Too much of a folkie I suppose.
I played this at the Jakefest at Torrington a couple of years ago shortly after discovering that Thomas Haverley's mum and dad were in the audience with Sheila Thackray. They told me that the story is true but that shortly after the cherry tree was planted it was eaten by the family goat.
