Very (Old) Peculier! - 2006/03/12 21:02
Went into Asda last week. Was deciding on which beer to make a steak and kidney pie with (Shona was away for the weekend). Picked up a bottle of Theakstons finest 'Old Peculier' (not a totally unprecedented occurence), read the back label (which was).
OLD PECULIER Sister Josephine Kicks the Habit Jake Thackwray (sic) wrote songs, frequently hilarious, of human compassion and love for the landscape and communities of rural North Yorkshire from where he emerged. To celebrate his work, we have sponsored 'Sister Josephine Kicks the Habit' a musical based around the characters featured in his songs. Subtle, heart-warming and thoroughly enjoyable - just like a bottle of Theakston's Ale! Theakston - under old management as you might say
Shame they couldn't manage to spell his name, which will frustrate internet searches by the uninitiated. Unfortunately there was only one bottle with this on, the others had various other eccentric Yorkshire icons, still, I've got one and if you look hard you could have too. (The beer's worth a try and you can keep the bottle as a souvenir).
Good Luck, Phil Neal
