The Yorkshire Post Columns - volunteers needed - 2007/10/29 10:41
As many of you will know, Ian Watson (who was behind the 'Sister Josephine' musical based on Jake's songs and characters) had collected the text of Jake's Yorkshire Post columns and was planning to publish them in book form. Sadly, Ian died earlier this year, before he'd had a chance to get the columns into print.
Ian's family have been kind enough to hunt out the photocopied columns and are passing them on to me, and I intend to publish them via the online print on demand publisher Lulu.com as a memorial to Ian, who was a good friend and is much missed. The book will then be available to order online, and any income generated will go to Jake's family.
The problem is that the columns are available only as rather poor photocopies - not good enough for OCR - and will need to be typed up. There are an awful lot of them! Is anyone here willing to volunteer to do some typing in a good cause? If you could take on even one column, it would help to get the job done.
