Re: The anecdotes - 2004/06/19 14:03 I do most heartily agree that you can 'hear' Jake's delivery through the present transcription - but I suppose I was thinking that there will be people reading these anecdotes eventually (if not right now, in the future) who never actually heard him speak.

So much is lost when one has only the words, should you for instance try to put in things which would make clear his Yorkshire accent? That, perhaps even more than the delivery, is a vital part of Jake we loved.

Neither do I think two versions are a good idea (do I seem to be painting myself into a corner here?!) so on balance, maybe it's best to leave it just as it is.

I would love to come to the fest, but the fare from New Zealand is just a wee bit more than I can afford right now.

As I was explaining to Pam, you may not hear my coupla thousand words too regularly as I'm about to become very busy (my second book is published in August and I have a final edit to tackle) but I'll be back as often as I'm able.

Keep the ums an ahs I say - I didnt know what to make of it until I heard some!
They said the thing just couldn\'t be done
And so I set right to it
I tackled the thing that couldn\'t be done
And found I couldn\'t do it
