 Is this a Jake quote? - 2007/06/14 21:25 Saw this at the bottom of a post by 'Senior Boarder' Slybynight, which amused me:

"They said the thing just couldn't be done
And so I set right to it
I tackled the thing that couldn't be done
And found I couldn't do it"

Is it a quote from one of Jake's songs? Perhaps Slybynight, or another knowledgeable member, could enlighten me?

 Re:Is this a Jake quote? - 2007/06/21 13:06 It's from the singing of Mr Vin Garbutt, sir. "It Couldn't Be Done" from the CD "Persona Grata". Except that in Vin's version he found he could do the thing that couldn't be done, whereas Slybynight has found out, as we all have, that Vin can do loads of stuff that the rest of us can't do. Eranu !

It's certainly Edgar Guest's lyric/poem, but as far as I'm aware it's only been covered by Garbutt, so it must be where you heard it, most likely. My reference to "Vin can do it where others can't" will become plain if you ever see him live playing the tin whistle. :o) Eranu !
