Re:Prayers needed... - 2005/02/27 12:56 He is still moving slowly forward, but very slowly. He was only taken off sedation and woken up on Thursday, and is not surprisingly a grumpy and miserable little boy still. I am expecting to hear today that he is out of intensive care at last, but he has several weeks to go still in hospital, receiving IV antibiotics.

I am still burning a candle for him night and day. I found some Church candles which burn with a splendid powerful flame but it keeps me awake at night, and the modern tealight barely burns 4 hours which is not enough for a night's sleep. (Can one still get Price's nightlights I wonder?)
So I have resorted (through the kind offices of my local pharmacist) to using Jewish Memorial Candles (re-dedicated to the sustaining of life of course) which are made to burn for 24 hours, and come in little glass jars of their own. They are just right for sleeping with. (Funny how comforting a nightlight is, even for a granny.)

I am off again for a few more days with Archie's brother and sister, where I have the use of the family computer, so don't have to be completely out of touch. Thanks for your thoughts.

As the Candle Factory is now undergoing redevelopment as a happening place to live in SW London I rather think that the nightlights are no longer available.

I am glad that Archie is on the mend, and hope that he will soon be able to return to his home a healthy youngster.

Regards

I presume you are referring to the Price's Candle Factory - fancy you being there with just the information I asked for - and in the off-topic section too!

The Jewish Yahrzeit Candles I am happy to say I have found available on the internet, in their glasses or as refills.

Talking of buying on line, I have just taken delivery of my daughter-in-law's on-line Tesco order, for a family of 5. It has nearly finished me off getting the fridge and freezer stuff stowed away, never mind the rest! I had to do a complete reorganisation of her freezer (which she may not be pleased about!) - but in fairness to her she had to place her order from one of the nurses' computers in the hospital, without any reference to what there was at home. Anyway, I can leave the rest for my grandchildren to put away when they gat back from school.

Upon which boring domestic note I will finish. There isn't a yawn symbol, so I'll give you some others.

Re:Prayers needed... - 2005/03/01 22:36 Hi Judith

Glad to hear Archie is making steady progress.

I don't have any special candles but I'll burn some Danish tea lights in his honour.

Please keep us up to date on Archie's progress.

I had great news this morning: yesterday my grandson Archie and his mum went home at last from hospital, after nine weeks.
He has not yet recovered full use of the left side of his body (following the stroke he suffered in the crisis of septicaemia), but within hours of getting home he had progressed to sitting unsupported on the floor and raising his left arm by itself on command! He is a brave little boy, full of spirit, and working hard towards his own recovery.

So we are all rejoicing, and I thank you again for the caring
thoughts and enquiries which have meant so much to us.

I visit rarely and have browsed through your postings about Archie.
Just like to wish Archie and you all well.
Best Regards
