Re:jake footage - 2005/02/15 22:48 'Jake Thackray and Songs' was a brilliant series of six programmes broadcast in the early eighties on BBC2. It captures Jake at his most natural, performing in small theatres, taking risks in front of the punters, as he would say. Unfortunately it is not available on DVD or in any other format at present, although behind the scenes I have no doubt that efforts are underway to persuade the BBC to release some of this wonderful footage. As to whether or not you can download the material, I am not sure.

Re:jake footage - 2005/02/15 22:58 This programmes remain in the BBC archives. Getting them out onto DVD involves negotiating the commercials with the BBC and a heap of rights issues.

Re:Jake footage - 2005/02/16 09:10 The clips are not downloadable. Gordon the webmaster deliberately designed the site that way.

Re:Jake footage - 2005/02/17 12:59 I agree that seeing Jake on video transforms and enhances one's impression of him as a performer. I listened to (and loved) Jake for about 23 years before I saw any moving (no pun intended) footage of him (Last Will and Testament at Jakes wake in York).I have since enjoyed much 'bootleg ' footage courtesy of members of this group and it has really changed the way I see him. Doesn't solve the problem of how to see some but if the previous 'Jakefests' are anything to go by there is often some footage screened at some stage so book your tickets soon!
