Re:500 today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - 2004/12/26 21:49 Before we all get too euphoric, it's worth noting that, just two nights after its long-overdue tribute to Jake, Radio 2 has tonight, in its Sunday Half-Hour at about 9.20pm, credited Remember Bethlehem (in a rather lovely choral version) to Howard Goodall. I have complained angrily and hope many others will do likewise - it is sheer unprofessional imcompetence.

And 502 already, what's more! - 2004/12/26 22:01 Only a couple of hours or so later. Looks like the radio 2 show's done its job.

Who is this Howard Goodall, anyway? Does he know that Jake's song has been erroneously credited to him? Does Bucks Music know?

Re:And 502 already, what's more! - 2004/12/26 22:38 It's not Howard Goodall's fault. He's a good man - best known, perhaps, to your general punter as the composer of the sig tune to Blackadder and the Vicar of Dibley. He also wrote a musical with Melvyn Bragg called The Hired Man (if I remember aright). He's a very good composer, and I'm quite sure he never made any claim regarding Remember Bethlehem.

Re:And 502 already, what's more! - 2004/12/27 01:06 Well let's get euphoric again - to balance the Beeb's boob (can I say that?) Bob Brainen just played Jake yet again on WFMU in New York - the 4th time in 5 weeks - this time he played Country Girl and lamented Jake's passing on, of all days, a Xmas eve. That will be available as an online archive - like all Bob's shows - in perpetuity!
