Colin Evans: RIP - 2006/01/16 10:25 Those of us at the Jakefest in Torrington in September 2004 had the
great pleasure of meeting Professor Colin Evans. Amongst his other
accompishments Colin organised the Sherman Theatre concert in 1973 at
which George Brassens gave his only UK concert with Jake providing the
first half.

Colin's death late last year has been announced and an obituary is in
this morning's Guardian and can be found online here:

Re:Colin Evans: RIP - 2006/01/17 10:43 I had the great pleasure of lunching with Colin and terry grant (arranged by terry) and, though it was only for an hour or so, he made such a strong impression on me that I feel as though I have lost a friend.

Re:Colin Evans: RIP - 2006/01/17 21:34 Colin was indeed one of the nicest, most genuine of men and his death in November came as a dreadful shock. One of the last things he did before he died was to record, on camera, his views on Jake for Victor Lewis-Smith's tribute documentary - which, though late, is now in the final stages of preparation. I understand that Victor intends to dedicate the programme to Colin's memory.
