Ladies Man? - 2007/05/28 18:31 Hi everyone, I'm new to the site, having discovered it when searching for the lyrics of a song I remember Jake singing on TV many years ago. Thing is, I can't find any reference to the song on this site or anywhere else. Can anyone help me? I'm beginning to wonder whether it wasn't Jake at all but someone else.

The song was about a 'Ladies Man' who picks up a girl and takes her home and when he puts his hand inside her blouse discovers "instead of a lovely warm pair of knockers, the hairy chest of a very gay docker who'd shaved just an hour before". Or something similar.

Did Jake write/perform such a song or am I going mad?

Cheers.

Re:Ladies Man? - 2007/05/28 19:48 Although I consider myself as being one of Jake's biggest and most loyal fans,I don't think that my knowledge of all of his songs is as encyclopaedic as some other contributors to this forum. With that in mind I must confess that,if such a Jake song exists,I'm unaware of it (though I have to admit that it does strike some sort of chord in my memory:maybe it is someone else's song).Good luck with it ,anyway.

Re:Ladies Man? - 2007/05/28 21:42 Thanks Hugh, but in fact I may just have answered my own question. Doing a bit more Googling on the internet I have found a reference to a song by Mike Harding called "The Ladies Man" on an album "Komic Kuts". Although I haven't been able to find the lyrics I suspect this may be the one I was thinking about and had attributed (incorrectly) to Jake.

Sorry to have caused any confusion, but I am pleased that the search has led me to rediscover the genius of Jake Thackray.

Re:Ladies Man? - 2007/05/30 19:31 Ah,Mike Harding,eh! That would explain why it sounded vaguely familiar as I saw him play the (now defunct)Chester Gateway Theatre many years ago and, quite possibly, heard that lyric then. Thanks anyway.
