Re:BBC4 Doc. - 2006/10/07 11:13 Wonderful, thought I had missed the two programmes as picking Shona up from the airport, but they were repeated about 11:30, so we stayed up 'till 2am watching them (shame I had to be in at work 8:30 today!! Never mind)
Laughed out loud at 'The Bull' appearing so early, (remembering Jake saying, 'I keep trying to get the BBC to play this one, I quite like it, I quite like it!') Great choice of songs to play, 'Bull' and 'Remembrance' would still mean a lot today even to those who've never heard him before. Enjoyed seeing the old photo's and clips. Question: Where was the later 1981 concert footage from? Incidentally, I have never seen an audience look more bemused by what they were hearing, but Jake plughed on manfully!

Re:BBC4 Doc. - 2006/10/08 09:44 At the time I did not have a beard (too young darlings) but I did have long hair.

I have the programme for the weekend somewhere in the attic, but as I recall Jake did three 45 minute spots. As well as Sister Josephine, The Kiss and The Hair of the Widow of Brid, whcih were shown on BBC4, he also did
The Bantam Cock, The Bull and The Remembrance and probably a couple of others which I forget now.

Re:BBC4 Doc. - 2006/10/08 09:50 Are you sure the '81 footage was Cambridge? When the 1st of it came on I thought Cambridge too, but a section of the same footage a bit later had a footnote saying it was some date in September '81 (it did specify, I just don't remember which one) - Cambridge, as far as I know, has always been the last weekend of July each year, although I'm happy to be corrected on all counts.
