Re:New member? - 2005/01/31 19:03 Hi Everyone

Well that's settled that then!

Lurking is a legitimate activity. I was a little concerened but thanks Keith for reassuring me.

You see that's the trouble (or is it beauty) of the English language. A word gets hijecked and used in a totally different context.

So now I can openly admit - My name is John Dixon and I am a lurker!

See, I feel better already.

Keep up the good work with the web site. I will lurk to my hearts content and chip in (and bore the whatnots of a thingumyjig) until as the fancy takes me.

Regards

John

Re:New member? - 2005/01/31 19:17 Cheers, KeithD. I really enjoy and appreciate the website; extremely useful resource for information on a fairly elusive performer. I foresee a mixture of lurking AND posting here in my immediate future.

And no, Pam, there's no Midlands connection with me (though I am very interested in the whole Sister Josephine project and will be very eager to read the first reviews!)

Best,

Isabel

Re:New member? - 2005/01/31 20:00 I have this nagging feeling (which I often get) that a word has occured as a line in one of Jakes songs. Is there a lurk or lurker in there somewhere, or could it be lurch?? Someone help...

PS although many of you have met me, my light is staying under it's bushel for now, self publicity wise. I am enjoying this thread, though!

Think yourself lucky that it is only a feeling. I get the full blown nag day in, day out. And if truth be told I wouldn't have it any other way.

No lurk. Only "urk"s are in "Turkish moussaka" and "twenty hysterical turkeys". Two instances of "smirk" and three of "church".

There is one "lurch", in this fragment:
"Lord, don't leave me in the lurch. Don't turn up your nose.
God knows I'm not much cop but my legs go up to the top.
Oh tell me why you've passed me by.
And, if you can, dear Lord on high, get me a man!"

As usual from me, more than you wanted to know, I suspect

So, Maureen's not a member here, eh.
