Sutton Coldfest - 2008/07/16 12:36 Fellow Thackophiles,

At the bottom of this message is a link to the programme for the Highbury Theatre Open Day on Saturday in which is being incorporated the Sutton Coldfield Jakefest.

The Open Day is free of charge to all visitors except for the Jake concerts for which tickets are £2.00 for the afternoon performance from 2pm - 4pm and £8.00 for the evening performance at 7.30pm.

In addition to the activities described in the programme there will also be a professional photographer on hand for those who wish to have portraits or group photographs in which you are welcome to utilise the vast array of costumes in the Highbury Theatre wardrobe should you wish to become Henry VIII or Florence Nightingale! There may also be opportunities for guitar workshops - should demand dictate - and we will have a rehearsal room at our disposal for the duration of the day for storing belongings, workshops etc.

Food will be available as follows
  • 12pm - 2pm - sandwiches made to order, soup etc

  • 5pm - 6.30pm - cold buffet

  • Subject to demand, I would like to be able to introduce our visitors to some "proper" post-show balti cuisine in Birmingham. Otherwise, there are Indian and Chinese restaurants available locally.

Hook Norton ale will be available while stocks last and a special dispensation has been made to allow drinks to be taken into the auditorium for the evening concert.

With music organisation by the irrepressible, multi-talented purveyor of all things Jake (and a whole lot more besides) Malcolm Jeffrey and the internationally renowned Keith Withers as your compere, it promises to be a day full of variety.

Tickets can be reserved by emailing me at neil<dot>weedon<at>gmail<dot>com.

We look forward to welcoming you to Highbury Theatre Centre.

Neil Weedon

Re:Sutton Coldfest - 2008/07/20 21:16 It was the first Jakefest I've been to...and was a great evening's entertainment. It was nice to hear some of the less familiar Jake songs.

Thanks to all the acts and to those who did such a good job in organising it all.

Where's next years Jakefest ????!!!!

Re:Sutton Coldfest - 2008/07/21 13:37 Many thanks to people to numerous to mention by name, but including everyone at the theatre (inc tour guides), musical arrangers, compere, ,performers, and chickens. I always learn a lot at these events. This year it was "Don't ask Malcy about his CD!". He's a persuasive little beggar who would be well at home in Auntie Wainrights shop!

Hope to meet up with you all again

Re:Sutton Coldfest - 2008/07/31 21:54 Sorry I'm late to the postings, but can I just add my thanks to all of the organisers and participants in the Jakefest for making it such a good night out.

The show was great fun, everyone was extremely open and friendly, the compare was perfect, the Jack Daniel's wasn't watered down , and the venue was about 15 minutes from my house.

What more could you ask for?

A warm and irreverant tribute to an outstanding artist.

For those who have seen the 'Bantam Cock' you tube click, I'm the eejit in the front row in the red T shirt.

Thank you everyone. Hope to see you all at the next.

All the best

Graham
