Re: September Jakefest! Yippee! - 2003/12/28 21:18 As long as there is plenty of beer we will be there. As to the workshop facilities do I need to bring my overalls? Actually I will bring a spare set just in case the nude bathing gets out of hand

A little word of explanation- ( I go all cryptic when a drink or two is taken) Sarah has translated a Georges Brassens song - friend of Jake) into English. It's all about a young lady who goes skinny dipping in a mountain stream and gets caught out.Didier sung the song at Tramshed. Clares dad should tell daughter to avert her eyes. Meanwhile I rushed to put Sept 18 on my calendar only to find that its is sealed until January 1st. Not that we are superstiotious or anything. but best not to tempt fate.

Re: September Jakefest! Yippee! - 2004/02/05 12:39 I'm here at last! I couldn't get onto the bulletin board last time I tried, but that problem is evidently sorted now. Thanks Gordon - I feel as though I've just been allowed out of solitary. Still no luck with Topica, though.

If anyone wants to discuss the Sept. event, I'd be only too happy to join in. Oh, go on, talk to me somebody - please!

Re: September Jakefest! Yippee! - 2004/02/05 14:11 Hurray ! Welcome home, Sarah !

So... September 18th then !

What's going on ?
Is Dunstable really the closest train station ?
Where can Malcy and Mrs Malcy stay ?
Can Ian and I try to get "I stayed off work today" right again without having fruit thrown at us ?
Is there any draught beer this time ?
Are there any Indian Restaurants this time (sarf of the river an' all) ?
Will there be an amusing vegetable competition ?
Eranu !

Good to have you back again Sarah. You've a long way to go to catch up with a veteran poster like me - this site is so light and bright that I find it addictive - especially with no Topica to go to.

So, what can I ask you about the Devonfest?

Are we going to be able to find b&b accommodation reasonably close, do you think?

Are we going to be able to be self-contained in the Arts Centre? I mean for pre-meetings, fringe meetings, performance hall, eating, drinking etc?

And shall we need to hire minibuses to get train travellers there from the nearest station - (Dunstable, or Aberdeen, or wherever)?

Are you formulating a master-plan (or should that be a 'person-plan?)
of great complexity, imagination and wit, one which will be quite different from any other Jakefest?

And will you need some help down there before the event?

And do you think it's possible to have an all-woman team , including programme manager, MC, marshall, administrator, travel organiser, bookings clerk, accountant, getter-in-the-way etc?

And are you wishing now you'd never asked?
Sorry, I'm a bit light-headed today.

Re: September Jakefest! Yippee! - 2004/02/05 22:54 Hey Sarah, good to see you here! Take no notice of Malcy, he's always like that (thank goodness!), and Judith seems to have got a bit carried away, but never mind, just humour her, she'll be alright.........

Wouldn't it be simpler to have this as the only messageboard ? It gets very complicated checking them all out............

Looking forward to Devon in September - no further questions m'lud - and Wallasey in March
