silly message after posting - 2004/06/27 03:05 When I post here, I get a grey message to say that a file with this file name already exists...and goes on again, on again about it not being uploaded....but it always is.

So how do I get rid of the grey message, it's only happened since the new look.

Re:silly message after posting - 2004/06/27 07:50 I'm getting the same thing, but I just ignore it now that I'm confident it will be uploaded anyway. Irritating though, innit?

P.S. I can't make out exactly what this emoticon is supposed to represent.
Any ideas?

Re:silly message after posting - 2004/06/27 09:13 I suspect it's a Ninja.

I notice that I'm a Senior Boarder: now, does this indicate that this is the Jake Thackray Bus, wending its way up the Dale and that somehow this site knew I was an elderly sort of person.

OR:
Is this the school, like St Trinians, where we are all required to wear navy blue knickers down to our knees (steady on chaps! ) and can only go home in the hols?

OR:

Maybe like Cosmo the fairly accurate knife thrower (you ALL know Cosmo, dont you?) we've just got something a little bit wrong.

OR: maybe I have to sneak in at night with me shoes in me hand in case the landlady, standing behind the parlor door with her arms folded looking at the clock, notices I'm after curfew

OR:

Perhaps I'm being piped aboard like an admiral rather than a frigging brigadier?

OR:
Maybe I'm just being silly 10 minutes before I go to bed

Oh goody! Another elderly sort of person to join me in senior silliness here - although to be fair, there's plenty of more youthful silliness on line as well. But I do find that age, combined with the remoteness of cyber communications, has a remarkably loosening effect on the inhibitions, and as you point out, SJ, bedtime fatigue can really push one over the edge sometimes.

You will find that your classification continues to change as the number of your postings mounts up - you've already gone up to 'Expert boarder'. You may suspect from my total over on the left there that I do nothing but post just to see what 100 may bring. The truth is I was lonely for a while when I couldn't get registered on our other message board at Topica. You will note that Keith, with whom I vie for the 'wordiness' prize, has only half my score. I'm rather embarrassed by it actually and wish Gordon (the webmaster) wouldn't do it.

Anyway - hurrah for bedtime silliness!

Re:silly message after posting - 2004/06/27 11:01 And now I want to try these new buttons for attaching files: here goes......
..................................
It didn't work. The button says 'image' so I tried uploading a picture (a jpg), but
I was told I could only upload a file containing alphanumeric characters. So I'll go away and think of something else.

Here's a file from our last Jakefest:
.............No that didn't work either. I shall obviously need instruction from someone - and I did so want to blaze the trail here.
