 BBC Shows?! - 2004/09/06 15:49 Hello All,

This is my first post, so please be gentle...(well, not too gentle!) Just wondering about the recent unearthing of the BBC "Jake Thackray & Songs" shows - what is the next step for these? Not knowing much about how the BBC works, (although I suspect they might be a little unhelpful) but would they release them to the project, or would they have to be released through the 'proper' channels - or indeed are they able to duplicate and distribute them, copyright etc...?!..Phew all these questions for a first post The reason for me asking is that being only a sprightly (ahem...) 25 y.o. and I never got the chance to see Jake perform (again only being a recent convert via a conversation in the Pub and a quick trip to Amazon) and the short clips on the project site only go to whet the appetite even more!!

'Fraid I can't answer your questions about the BBC series, but someone here will be able to sooner or later. (fingers crossed............)

Probably most people who visit this board are like you and never got a chance to hear Jake live. From one who did I can say it was a great experience, but if you watch ebay and some of the other places that sell his records you should be able to get some of his work, which is a pretty good second best. (Lots of us - me included - seem to prefer the live stuff, e.g. Live Performance and JT and Songs. Close your eyes and you can see him!

Not sure if there's still time to sign up for the Torrington event (Sarah?) but if there is and you can come you are guaranteed a good time, in perhaps the best way to pay tribute to a great man.

And if you can't, chances are there will be a next time...........

Now, someone come and enlighted Simon about those TV shows.....

 Re:BBC Shows?! - 2004/09/09 00:00 At the moment I know of no plans by the BBC to release any Jake Thackray material. The BBC were previously approached with regard to the licensing of recorded material and I know that the costs were very high.

If you can't get to Torrington then keep checking back as I hope to put a new clip on the site before I go. Gordon
