 Sarah was right ! - 2004/12/13 13:41 Did anyone see Adam Hart-Davis in “What The Victorians Did For Us” last night ? One of the fabulously inventive weather forecasting devices AHD was looking at looked like a fabulously detailed, miniature Wurlitzer-style Carousel, in which were jars full of leeches. When thunder approaches, the leeches crawl up their jars to pre-empt any flooding, and set bells off at the top to announce the imminent storm.

The glittering, reconstructed model was on display in… Barometer World, near Torrington. D’oh ! Talk about a missed opportunity. Eranu !

I'm horribly afraid that this post is nothing to do with this thread, but by piggybacking on it I both reach the 100 posts mark and appear as the last poster on all three forums! Not an opportunity that's easy to pass up.
