Within the past three weeks I have received consent to have a recording of a radio broadcast of Jake’s remastered and to release it on CD. The tape belongs to a member of one of the lists who wishes to remain anonymous. I am currently in the process of arranging the MCPS licence and have posted this at what I consider to be the first time at which I could ‘go public’ with reasonable confidence that the consents will fall into place. I should say that there is still a chance of a delay so I'm crossing my fingers as I post this. The broadcast is the first part of a live show recorded in Germany by Jake and Alan Williams for the British Forces Network in 1981: sadly the second half is long lost. The songs are: The Gorilla, Worried Brown Eyes, The Jolly Captain, Sister Josephine, Over to Isobel, Isabella, The Hair of the Widow of Bridlington and One of Them. - with some good banter between songs. The total length of the show was 39 minutes. The aim is to sell the cd as a project cd with the proceeds being divided as follows: (i) recovery of the production costs cd and payment of the various licence/royalty payments and (ii) generate a modest surplus to contribute towards working capital for the approach to the BBC. However, before pressing ahead I need to have some idea of whether anyone will actually buy it and the likely demand so that I can divide the fixed costs by the probable demand to come up with a price. I would like to keep that price below £10 if I can and the best way to achieve that is to be able to count on a reasonable demand from all of you. It will also give me a good idea of a minimum number of cds to manufacture. So could I ask you, on a without prejudice basis, if you think that you might buy one (or more) to write to me personally at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it *as quickly as you can* to say so. AT THIS STAGE THIS IS ALL THAT I WANT. PLEASE DON’T SEND ANYTHING OTHER THAN A ‘YES’ AND AN INDICATION IF YOU THINK THAT YOU MIGHT WANT MORE THAN ONE COPY. I should add that probably, because there will be upfront costs to cover and I am not made of money, we will look for preorders. Thanks Ian Burdon |
