JAKEFEST 2005 - EDINBURGH - ITINERARY PDF Print E-mail

For everyone coming to Jakefest 2005 in Edinburgh, this is a reminder of what is happening, and where.

Friday 16th

For those in the city on Friday, we have booked the Cellar Bar of the Canon's Gait on the High Street (The Royal Mile) from 19.30/20.00-ish. Walk down the Royal Mile from the Edinburgh Castle end, past John Knox's House, across the junction with St. Mary's Street, and the Canon's Gait is on the right. If lots of people turn up the bar will open till late, if only a few come then 23.00 or 23.30 will be closing time. Several of the Jakefest performers will be there performing either Jake material or other peoples' songs or their own songs. You're welcome to take a turn too.

Saturday 17th

We have booked a wonderful French restaurant in the West end of Edinburgh for lunch on the Saturday. www.petitparis-restaurant.co.uk (Queensferry Street). The owner, Philippe, is a Brassens fan and offer us a two course lunch with coffee for £10, accompanied by the music of Georges Brassens, with live performance in French and English.

Currently 37 people have booked but we could go up to 50. Anyone who wishes to go but hasn't made this known yet please email *Phil Neal* directly [ mcdonaldneal (at) hotmail (dot)com ]

The principal Jakefest concert begins at 19.30 at the St. Brides Centre, Orwell Terrace. The venue is a converted church building and the seating will be arranged 'cabaret' style with handy access to the bar. Those of you who have attended previous Jakefests will know most - though not all - of the performers. Tickets are still available (£9.00 adult, £6.50 under 16). We estimate that the show will finish around 23.00.

After the show a number of the performers will be retiring to a local Bengali Restaurant for a post-show meal. Let me (Ian Burdon) know as soon as possible if you wish to come along too (we will be pre-ordering a "banquet" and have to confirm final numbers).
